Due to the high number of applications received, only selected candidates will be contacted by the International Law Seminar team.

A confirmation email is sent for every application submitted. If the participant has not received it, they should wait and check the spam or junk folder of their inbox.

Yes. There is no limit on the number of times a participant may apply. Previous applicants are therefore welcome to apply again. However, a new application must be submitted for the current year's Seminar.

No, participants must only attach the required documents: CV, motivation letter and two recent letters of recommendation.

Participants must have a good working knowledge of English and French in order to be able to follow the lectures. However, no official language proficiency certificates are required as part of the application.

Simultaneous interpretation in English, French and Spanish is provided for plenary meetings held at UNOG. However, some Seminar activities, particularly those taking place outside UNOG, may not be interpreted. Participants must therefore have a good working knowledge of English and French.

No. If selected, participants must attend the Seminar in its entirety. Partial attendance is not permitted.

Participants are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the relevant topics on the agenda of the International Law Commission prior to attending the Seminar.

Yes. Upon completion of the three-week Seminar with full participation and attendance, participants will be awarded an official diploma signed by the Director of the Seminar, the Director-General of UNOG, and the Chair of the International Law Commission during an official ceremony held on the last day of the Seminar.

Participants may request a stipend through the application form. The request must be justified in the motivation letter.

The stipend for subsistence is an amount fixed by the organizers and covers accommodation, meals and miscellaneous expenses. Participants receive the stipend in two instalments by cheque upon arrival in Geneva.

The stipend for travel covers one round-trip economy-class air ticket between Geneva and the participant's country of residence. Travel arrangements will be made for arrival on the day before the Seminar begins and departure on the day after it ends.

Upon request, participants may obtain an official attestation letter to support their application for a biometric visa to enter Switzerland. Any costs associated with obtaining a visa must be borne by the participant.

No. There is no official dress code during the Seminar. However, business casual attire is generally recommended throughout the programme.

Participants may be invited to formal events organized within the framework of the International Law Commission. The International Law Seminar team may also organize informal evening events throughout the programme.

Yes. Participants will have access to the library and a visit of the library will be organized during the first week of the Seminar.
